MIK Studio announces program to support up-and-coming creatives

Creative agency MIK Studio is cultivating the next generation of industry creatives by rolling out the 2024 SOY (Support Our Youth) program.

The announcement:

Global creative agency, MIK Studio, has today announced the launch of the 2024 SOY (Support Our Youth) program to spotlight and support young, emerging creative talent in the industry.

After the triumph of its inaugural year in 2023, this year’s program is set to provide even more acceleration opportunities for enthusiastic creatives.

“There’s no question that young creatives face barriers when it comes to honing their craft – whether that be a lack of access to equipment, mentorship, or opportunities to apply their skills in real-world settings,” said Tom Cotton, creative director at MIK. “But that’s where SOY steps in.”

The 2024 SOY program will provide creatives with mentorship from senior MIK team members who specialise in their respective fields, be it Audio, Design, Copywriting, Creative Strategy, Video, or Development.

As part of this mentorship, SOY participants will have the opportunity to refine their portfolio with one-on-one portfolio surgery sessions, practise their skills with mock briefs, and shadow their mentor in the studio, with a peek into MIK’s distinct recording spaces and state-of-the-art equipment.

Madeleine Taplin, of the 2023 SOY cohort said: “Participating in MIK SOY has been an incredible experience. I have had the chance to not only learn from MIK’s employees but also foster important relationships and connections within the media industry. As a recent university graduate, the advice and guidance provided to me by my mentor has made me think more critically about the career path I may want to take within the industry and opened my mind to opportunities I previously didn’t know existed”.

In addition to mentorship, SOY will leverage MIK’s social and client network as a platform to spotlight the work of up-and-coming creatives.
