J&B Whisky launches graphic 360 video series of its origin stories

The story of J&B Whisky is brought to life in a series of new graphic 360 degree videos telling the story of the heritage of the brand.

The Moet Hennessey Diageo-owned spirit used French agency MNSTR to develop the new web-based campaign, which tells the stories of founders Giacamo Justerini and Alfred Brooks.

The videos open on the label of the brand, and use that as a doorway to explore the worlds of Justerini and Brooks, and the evolution of the brand from 1750 through to the 1920s, creating graphic-novel like cityscapes of London in red and yellow for people to explore as the voiceover tells the tale.

The campaign is being rolled out on the brand’s Facebook and Youtube pages, and on VR headsets.

Louis Bonichon, Associate Creative Director for MNSTR said in a press release: “Everyone is familiar with the iconic J&B red and yellow label. But we never really focus on what’s written, whereas it tells a real saga spanning several eras.

“A saga of adventurers, which could even be the subject of an HBO series. We thought the public would be interested in learning about the brand’s origin, that there’s a real story of entrepreneurship and risk taking.

“Whether in the narrative mode, the writing or the articulation of the operation, we took a closer look at the elements of those series that perform the best with our target that work for our target.”

The other videos in the series will roll out until October.
