Grazia pushes up cover price
Despite a 4.6% fall in its latest ABC audit figures, ACP has raised Grazia’s cover price by just over $1 to $6.
The price change came into effect yesterday – the same day that audit numbers revealed that Grazia had fallen from an average of more than 70,000 weekly copies in the period from July September 2008 to 66,804 in the same period this year.
The price point now makes Grazia the most expensive of the mass market women’s weeklies.
- Famous (PacMags) $3.50
- New Idea (PacMags) $4
- Woman’s Day (ACP) $4
- OK (ACP) $4.50
- New Weekly (ACP) $4.95
- Who (PacMags) $4.95
- Grazia (ACP) $6
The move was unheralded, with newsagents not warned in advance to expect the change.
Grazia launched in July last year.
Bad idea. I already think its too expensive for what it is. Put this in perspective – When other mags like NW and Famous are around $4-$5 and women’s lifestyles are between $8-$10.

It’s actually $1, not just over. From 5 to 6

Hi TWT,
Ta for that. I had a feeling it had been $4.95 for a while before it was $5 but couldn’t find an example.
Cheers,

This price increase should not come as a suprise to anyone.
Anyway we should not be critical of this fine magazine. Apparently its sales are just awesome if you believe everything ACP tells us……mmm

When I buy grazia I’m generally on my way to the train or bus and because I have a $5 note in my wallet. Scrambling around my wallet for the coins in a rush will undoubtedly mean I’ll buy it less. I’m sure I’m not the only one.
