Flourish PR appoints Phil Ceberano as creative director
Melbourne PR agency Flourish has appointed showbiz veteran Phil Ceberano as its first full-time creative director.
Ceberano, who was previously a band leader and karate instructor, joins the agency after working on a project basis for the last two years.
The agency is owned and run by his wife Angela Ceberano.
The moves comes as the agency unveils a brand revamp carried out by design agency Yoke to promote an expansion of its services to include social media, community management, business strategy, creative services, communication workshops and personal branding.
As part of the expand offering, former Gold Coast magazine journalist Madeleine Gleeson has also been appointed as social media and content manager and ex Australia Post communications advisor Jackie Smiles as senior account manager.
Angela Ceberano said: “Traditional PR is where we started, but the lines of where PR starts and ends is very blurry nowadays, and that’s a good thing, as it allows us to be more involved with our clients and more accountable.
“We are no longer ‘just’ PR. We are a creative communications agency that understands business. We are passionate about exchanging stories, expressing ideas and sharing conversations.”
Flourish PR has also signed new clients since the beginning of the year including: Noosa Food and Wine Festival, The Art Cabriolet, Gabriel Cares and Doxa Youth Foundation, adding to its existing client data base of Luna Park, Guy Sebastian and Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre.

Hi guys,
Great comments! Good questions!
There was a slight error in the article because Phil still is a band leader/musician and karate instructor. We do think he is qualified for this position, in fact, he is over qualified. We believe the industry needs more artistry. In today’s landscape of disruption and innovation, we all need to be thinking outside the square. Those that aren’t willing to evolve will (sadly?) be left behind. We needed a true creative and one without all the BS. You won’t hear Phil use marketing or advertising jargon around here. Phil has lived his whole life outside the box entertaining and communicating to thousands of people from a stage for over 25 years. We hired him because creativity doesn’t come from sitting behind a desk.. it comes from experiences and living life. And Phil has certainly done a lot of that. Whilst I’ve sat at my desk for the last 15 years being a responsible corporate comms professional.. he has seen the world, communicated to thousands of people from a stage, toured with the best artists and written songs that make him money in his sleep. Phil lives and breaths creativity. Some people can present creativity on a piece of paper or some people, like Phil can live it, 24/7. Communicating and engaging with a public is what we do as PR people. Phil’s approach isn’t like the rest of the industry. And that’s why it works so well. Phil has also been managing corporate events for the last 15 years and working very closely with clients to achieve some incredible outcomes. He was also a TV presenter which makes Phil a great asset for our media training workshops. Phil has developed marketing concepts in an unconventional way that has seen the roll-out of many successful events and campaigns for clients such as; General Mills, Red Energy, Linfox Group, Toyota, Austin Health & Pitcher Partners to name a few.
In response to Jack – Yes, Phil is my husband. We both personally value the power of family business. Given this is a trade publication, the fact that we have re-branded (with one of the best creative agencies in the country), are now offering additional services and have additional team members, the publication saw this as a newsworthy story for the industry. Hope this has helped.
Kindest regards, Angela Ceberano
