Gus Worland leaves Triple M Sydney to focus on men’s mental health foundation
Gus Worland is departing breakfast radio after 10 years to focus on his Gotcha 4 Life Foundation, which he began in 2017. His last show will be November 8.
Worland was an inaugural member of The Grill Team in 2009 with Stuart McGill and Mark Geyer, and joined Lawrence Mooney, Jess Eva and Chris Page on Moonman in the Morning in 2019.
As of the most recent GfK radio ratings survey, Moonman in the Morning held a 6.4% audience share in Sydney, making it the sixth most-popular FM breakfast program.
Worland won’t be stepping away from Triple M entirely. He is contracted with the station to re-create the famous Deadset Legends show in 2020. Deadset Legends originally began in 1997 with Ray Warren, Mike Whitney and Debbie Spillane, ending in 2015. Its set to return in January 2020 with Worland, NRL and Rugby Union player Wendell Sailor and AFL player Jude Bolton.
Head of Triple M, Mike Fitzpatrick, said the recreation of the Deadset Legends program was Worland’s idea.
“I’m hard-pressed to find a more loveable and big-hearted man than Gus. He’s been a part of our Triple M family for over 10 years now, and that’s no small feat.
“His idea to re-create Deadset Legends on Saturday mornings is an opportunity we jumped at. Gus, Wendell and Bolts – three true legends to keep Sydney across all the sport they need to know about to start the weekend.”
Worland said breakfast radio has been a huge part of his life, but that he’s excited for what the future will hold.
“Breakfast radio has played such a massive role in not only my life but also my family’s. I’ve met some lifelong friends and I wouldn’t change one thing,” he said.
“To wake up Sydney each morning, have a few laughs, and report the stories that matter, has been a true pleasure. It’s now time for me to step down from my radio commitments to spend more time on my mental health foundation Gotcha 4 Life. We’ve achieved so much in the past two years, I’m excited to spend more time on this and see what we can do.
“I’m glad to be able to stay with the MMMs to talk about one of my lifelong passions, sport. And to do so with two sporting legends in Wendell and Jude.”
Gus’ co-host, Lawrence Mooney, said: “Gus Worland is a big, beautiful man that exudes a joy for life. It’s a great energy to be around and I’ve loved working with him.”

Hi Gus
My name is Anne and I co-present a radio show every Tuesday from 2-4pm with my friend Julie on Alive 90.5fm community radio. We broadcast within the Hills, Parramatta and Cumberland areas, though you can stream our show from anywhere in the world. It is a show with a mixture of easy listening music and chat about topics relevant to our local area.
Each week, we invite special guests onto the show to inform, educate and entertain our listeners. We were wondering whether you would like to join us to talk about Mental Health on a Tuesday afternoon in person or by telephone to talk about and promote Mental Health to our listeners?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards
Anne and Julie
