Clemenger Group expands people and culture division

Clemenger Group has restructured its people and culture team, adding a dedicated people and culture business partner to each of its agencies and specialist companies, Mumbrella can reveal.

The expanded people and culture team reflects the changing needs of talent across its subsidiaries, with the people and culture function to offer a suite of services for learning and development, talent strategy and recruitment.

In 2023, the team will double down on Clemenger Group’s commitment to its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy, leadership development and employee engagement.

The full-service team will be led by chief people officer, Raj Tapper, who since joining the Clemenger Group in late 2021 has reshaped the business’ approach to flexible work, with a focus on enhancing employee wellbeing, benefits and opportunities at all levels.

Under Tapper, the people and culture team has implemented a number of initiatives, including investing in externally-led leadership and skill development programs, an updated parental leave policy offering up to 20 weeks of leave, two graduate programs (Clemenger Consulting Graduate Program and CHEP Network’s Morphosis program), public holiday flexibility, the development of a Reconciliation Action Plan, and the development of a new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council.

During her tenure Tapper has also overseen a number of executive changes at the groups agencies, including a national restructure at Clemenger BBDO that saw Dani Bassil appointed to lead the agency nationally, alongside national CCO Jim Curtis. The changes also saw the resignation of Clemenger BBDO Melbourne CEO Jim Gall, and the addition of new national ECD Tristan Graham, amongst other appointments.

“Creating flexibility and autonomy at an agency level has enhanced the Group’s ability to inspire world-class creative performance. We are incredibly proud to be building a People & Culture model that will enable us to engage our people in a way that is unique within our industry,” Tapper said.

“However, having a DE&I strategy means nothing if you also do not have leaders who understand how to support the unique needs of their colleagues, uphold standards and ultimately motivate people. We are committed to investing in strong development opportunities that deliver the right knowledge and tools to our established and emerging leaders.”

Clemenger Group CEO Les Timar added: “Clemenger Group is founded on the notion of empowering our talented people to unlock their creative capabilities. As we step into 2023, the evolution of our People and Culture team will continue to positive shape the career journey of our people and offer the most diverse, progressive and thoughtful workplace in our industry.”
