Clems awarded $1.2M creative services contract for Department of Climate Change

Clemenger BBDO has been awarded a hefty $1.218 million contract with the Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, following a limited tender process.

According to the Aus Tender website, the creative services contract spans the 24 September 2023 until 30 June 2024 period, however the details of the project are unknown.

The significant advertising investment in a project that will most likely focus on communicating climate action comes as the Albanese government has faced public scrutiny for dragging its heels on the issue of climate change and accusations of pandering to the fossil fuels industry following a number of new mine approvals.

Whether the campaign marks a renewed climate commitment from the government is yet to be seen, however with United Nations Climate Change Conference COP28 having commenced in Dubai this week, it is likely the Albanese government will be eager to demonstrate that it is making progress on the climate issue.

The Clemenger Group creative agency is one of 20 agencies currently listed on the Australian Government’s advertising panel, alongside BMF, Ogilvy Australia, The Monkeys, TBWA Melbourne, Cox Inall Ridgeway, Think HQ, and others. The standing offer arrangement that encompasses the current panel is due to expire in March 2024.

Clemenger BBDO declined to comment.
