Dr Mumbo

Dr Mumbo’s top five prediction piece predictions for 2019

Did you know that technology is enabling us to do more things? That consumers are demanding more from their brands? That AI is going to revolutionise everything we do? No? Well don’t worry, because Dr Mumbo is here to tell you about it anyway.

1. User experience

According to some research we conducted, the user is going to be really important in 2019. The word seamless is also really important. Make sure your website is free from friction. Make it seamless. Make that sucker so slippery that customer’s attention will slide right on past. If you can make it look almost exactly like a Squarespace template, that’s even better.

2. AI is going to save us all

AI has grown extensively over the past year. It will grow again next year. In fact, the AI revolution is not just coming, it’s here. What ‘it’ is, no one’s quite sure, but it’s definitely going to be important.

3. Data, data, data

Data is the new oil. I might even have to finally pay someone to segment our email database.

4. People like experiencing things

Want to know the one thing millennials and gen zs really, really, like? They don’t want stuff. They’re demanding experiences. In fact, they love them so much that we’ve thrown out the Australian Dollar and are now trading in the ‘experience economy’. Better yet, they want marketing disguised as experiences.

Your brand needs to be right there, immersing and interacting with your customer in a compelling way. If you do it right, you won’t even have customers anymore. You’ll have brand advocates. You’ll have brand ambassadors. Citizen journalists, even!

5. Storytelling is really important

What’s the most important thing your customer wants to experience in 2019? A story. The most important thing to remember is that your stories have to be authentic. By which I mean make them as far removed from your cosy Manly existence as you possibly can.
