RSPCA says ‘we’re all the same’ in new campaign

pigs rspcaA cavalcade of cute animals and a voiceover from actor Geoffrey Rush feature in a new campaign for RSPCA Queensland created by Brisbane agency Engine Group.

The ad focuses on humanising animals, with Rush saying “we all get hungry, or bored” and concluding with “we all like to belong, because deep down, we’re all the same.”

The new campaign’s positioning line is “We’re all creatures, great and small,” an update on the previus line of “For all creatures great and small”.

Tim Weger, MD of Engine Group, said: “Through our strategy planning process, we uncovered early on that people play an increasingly important role in the mix, but this wasn’t being conveyed by the current positioning,” he said.

“It gives us a heap of scope, creatively as it unfolds across all manner of communications. It also give permission to the audience to put themselves in the position of an animal in need, which we’ve found is a powerful way of securing much needed support both from individuals and the business community.”

RSPCA Queensland executive manager Michael Hornby said the ad was created pro bono with partners including Engine Group, Cartel Film Production, The Post Lounge, SST Workshop, Justin Overell, Skeet Booth and Alex Buckingham.

The approach of the RSPCA Queensland ad is in marked contrast to the most recent campaign from RSPCA Victoria, which took a more aggressive tone in relation to duck hunting.
