Four professors, Walkley winner, Wiggle and Kyle Sandilands join Mumbrella360 lineup

Four professors, former Yellow Wiggle Greg Page, radio presenter Kyle Sandilands and Australia’s most trusted health commentator Dr Norman Swan are among the speakers announced today for the media stream of July’s Mumbrella360 conference.

Mumbrella360 takes place in Sydney from July 13 to 15, with an emphasis on examining how the media and marketing world has changed since the Covid pandemic.

The newly confirmed sessions, all curated by industry participants, include a session led by Dr Swan on best (and worst) practice in Covid-19 vaccine information campaigns from around the world.  The session is curated by Tonic Media Network, which was co-founded by Swan. Last year Dr Swan, who presents The Health Report on ABC Radio, was part of the team that won a Walkley Award for the ABC’s daily Coronacast podcast. Swan will be joined for the session by author and former ad executive Nigel Marsh, social scientist Prof Julie Leask and WPP’s chief strategy officer Rose Herceg.

Meanwhile, the session moderated by Greg Page will explore whether pandemic lockdowns have driven a move back towards the importance of local communities and explore what this means for marketers. Page will be joined onstage by Jennie Sager, head of neighbourhood network Nextdoor Australia, which is curating the session. Also on the panel are psychologist and loneliness researcher Dr Michelle Lim and Prof Ian Hickie – co-director of health and policy at The University of Sydney’s Brain and Mind Centre.

And Kyle Sandilands, co-presenter of Sydney’s number one FM breakfast show The Kyle & Jackie O Show, will be joined on stage by his boss, Ciaran Davis, CEO of Australian Radio Network’s parent company HT&E. Amongst other things, the duo will tell the behind-the-scenes story of how the defection of Sandilands and co-host Jackie Henderson from 2Day FM led to the launch of Kiis FM, which remade the Australian radio market.

A further session will see branded entertainment centre stage, with the story of how Levi’s funded Sydney’s This Film Studio to create the documentary Skategoat on skateboarder Le’andre Sanders.

The public relations and corporate communications world will also be covered at Mumbrella360. In one session, Erdem Koch will tell the story of how he went from the highly influential role as executive producer on the ABC’s Insiders to head of communications and government relations for tobacco company Philip Morris International. And in a session on the press office of the future, academic Prof Jim Macnamara  will discuss the findings of the Communication Monitor survey of worldwide communications trends.

Another academic speaking during the stream will be marketing and econometrics professor Peter Danaher who will be revealing findings from a study on the best media mix to drive marketing outcomes.
