National tourism transport operator Great Southern Rail has appointed GPY&R to its multi million dollar account, following a five-way strategic and creative pitch involving both Adelaide and Melbourne agencies.

Adelaide-based Great Southern Rail operates tourism rail services throughout Australia including the iconic, Indian Pacific, The Ghan, The Overland and the new Southern Spirit trains.

GPY&R national business director Steve Doherty, whose remit includes the agency’s recently opened Adelaide office, said it was a significant win for the agency and re-established its credentials in the Adelaide market.

“For anyone previously doubting our intentions on the Adelaide offering this win should clear things up. The business will be managed by a combination of Adelaide and Melbourne resources. It’s a great foundation for our operation in SA. ” says Doherty.

Great Southern Rail Marketing Director David Smith said “Great Southern Rail are excited about taking a new strategic direction and looking forward to working closely with GPY&R in what is an extremely competitive tourism market.”
