Design agency housemouse rebrands as HM

Multidisciplinary design agency housemouse has rebranded for a third time, and is now known as HM.

The announcement:

Founded in 1996 by Nancy Bugeja and Miguel Valenzuela, HM. has organically developed to become a leader in design and communication – producing awardwinning design, campaigns, products, and brand and marketing strategies for a range of clients, globally. The rebrand follows several months of extensive research and reflects the company’s position in the market.

“After a successful organisational redesign over the last 12-18 months, our brand now represents an evolution and progression, by mirroring what is seen on the inside,” Managing Director Nancy Bugeja said. “Allowing us to speak with a contemporary voice, our brand also pays homage to our rich history, growth and the way we view design.”

Surviving two recessions; substantial changes in the print and paper industries; and a transformation in the way people communicate, design in the 21st century is seen by HM. as beyond 2D formats. Divisions of HM. include design, marketing and research, which work in synergy to achieve clients’ communication goals using a range of progressive mediums. Utilising their expertise in design and communication, HM. proudly work with a number of brands across diverse industries including luxury, lifestyle and publishing.

“We are living in a time of increased information. Our agency’s ambition is to offer clarity to our clients, as their creative partner, and the public with well-considered curated perspectives,” Bugeja said. “With a heritage that is pure, confidence that is acquired from our many years of experience and a strength that values individual thought of each member and contributor, HM. will continue to innovate and thrive.”
Bugeja said.

“Displaying authenticity and providing meaningful work is something that is embedded in our vision – one which will guide our expansion into Europe, Asia and the Americas.”

The brand:
A main aspect of the rebrand is the change of the company’s official name from ‘housemouse’ to HM. which will be seen across all communication.

“The brand’s design and application reflects our desire to return communication to its purest, simplest form,” said Creative Director Miguel Valenzuela. “When working on this brand, we wanted to ensure that it matched our progressive approach to design.”

The second rebrand in the history of the organisation seems to be the most significant as the change also sees HM. grow to form part of HM Group (Aus) Pty Ltd. Organic growth saw a strong need for an overriding corporation to continue to build and foster progressive ways of communicating, in a saturated market.

“This change is a logical step in our succession and gives us an umbrella under which we can continue to expand our diverse products and services during our next phase of growth and development, each underpinned by one set of values,” said Managing Director Nancy Bugeja. “Growth has motivated the development of the Group.”

HM. will continue to be a service provider to all brands within the Group, which so far includes the multi-award winning fluoro, Wrapped™ and
J O H N S M I T H. The brands within the Group’s portfolio spread across the design, luxury, publishing, marketing and art industries. This diversity reflects the purpose, identity and potential international growth. Founders, Nancy Bugeja and Miguel Valenzuela will remain at the helm of HM. as Managing and Creative Directors, as well as forming the board of HM Group (Aus) Pty Ltd. Most recently HM. was honoured with a prestigious Red Dot for Communication Design in Germany. www.agencyHM.com
