Audiovisual digitisation company DAMsmart has appointed Dave McGrouther, a former film curator at the National Film and Sound Archive, to head its Film Services Division.
“Dave will be working on all things film – assessing, prepping, digitising -, with commercial as well as preservation organisations; he brings with him extensive knowledge of archiving, preservation, conservation and repair techniques for all film formats,” said business manager Adam Hodgkinson.
“His appointment further strengthens DAMsmart’s specialist audiovisual digitisation and preservation services; the growth of DAMsmart’s technical team underscores our commitment to developing our digitisation business in Australia and our expansion into Asian market,” he added.
DAMsmart has recently been appointed by AusStage to design and build an innovative mobile migration unit to digitise its geographically-scattered archives. The project, entitled Visual Searching, will see the creation of a publicly-accessible audiovisual archive of the history of Australian performing arts.
