Gate 7 has been appointed to manage PR for the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council

Gate 7 began its work for Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, hosting Seven’s Weekend Sunrise crew to promote attractions in the region including the Art Walk, Billabong Zoo and Port Cruise Adventures.

Liesa Davies, group manager economic development and communications at Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, said: “We are thrilled to announce that Gate 7 has come on board as our PR agency to drive awareness of Greater Port Macquarie’s compelling tourism proposition.

“In this fiercely competitive domestic tourism market, it’s key that we take an integrated, innovative approach to our communications strategy. We believe that in partnership with Gate 7, we can take our PR activity to the next level, ultimately increasing visitation and generating real business outcomes for our stakeholder network.”

Sophie Taylor, director of PR and content at Gate 7, said: “The Gate 7 team is delighted to have landed the Port Macquarie account after a competitive pitch process.

“It’s an exciting expansion into the domestic tourism sector for the agency, and we look forward to leveraging our strong tourism marketing experience to put this special region of Australia in the spotlight.”

Earlier this year, Gate 7 won the Australian PR account for Greek cruise company Celestyal Cruises. In October last year, Alterra Mountain Company appointed the agency to manage its PR.
