Type + Pixel launches new social division, bolsters senior leadership

Digital-first brand agency Type + Pixel has launched a social division, set to be headed by former L&A Social strategist, Sarah Marriot.

Having led paid and earned social campaigns for Woolworths and True Alliance at L&A Social, Marriot joins Type + Pixel as social strategist as the agency delves into social media services.

Type + Pixel co-founder, Darren Walls, said: “Making a social play has been on our radar for some time but we were waiting to find the right person to really drive and take ownership of it. Sarah is absolutely that person and we’re excited to have her on board.”

Marriott added: “Type + Pixel are known for designing great digital brands and experiences but until now social hasn’t been part of their core offer. I’m looking forward to applying my knowledge of content and social strategy in a new market.”

The agency has also made two further senior appointments, welcoming  Natalie van der Rijt and Jermold Compton join as creative director and digital creative director respectively. The newly created leadership roles were designed to foster the agency’s focus on collaboration and co-creation.

Van der Rijt brings to the team extensive expertise in brand design and award winning campaign work, with a 20-year career that has included stints in London and Amsterdam. More recently, Van der Rijt has held creative director roles at the Univeristy of Queensland, JSAcreative and Hero.

Compton joins the agency with almost two decades of experience in digital and brand design, having started his career as an interactive design and UX specialist in Trinidad and Tobago before moving to Brisbane in 2019.

The pair will work closely to deliver brands, campaigns and experiences that combine consumer insights and brand strategy with digital thinking and tech-based solutions.
