WeAre8 launches new tool for brands to go beyond commercial success

Purpose-driven social media app, WeAre8, held its inaugural industry event in Sydney yesterday, where it launched a number of new offerings and initiatives.

This includes Collaborate, an expanded offering for brands looking to make an impact beyond just business results, with marketing solutions aimed at delivering a positive impact on people and the planet.

Operating under WeAre8’s B-Corp certification, Collaborate will provide marketers with a suite of services beyond the app’s opt-in advertising experience, to tap into like-minded providers to offer a single source of briefing and execution option.

The alliance will bring together the expertise of WeAre8, alongside the services of sustainability focused creative company Rethink Everything led by Mike Spirkovski and co-founder Vanessa Liell; alongside activation and production company, Picha Group.

Mike Spirkovski, managing partner and co-founder, Rethink Everything said: “Our company vision is to empower everyone to drive and own a sustainable future. Partnering with Weare8 on Collaborate is exactly why we exist and are super excited to help accelerate the change we all so desperately need in our world.

Additional services offered by WeAre8’s Collaborate will include cross channel ideation,
strategy, activations, content production and licensing, along with bespoke insights into a
growing segment known as generation changemaker – those who actively want to make the world a better place. The new division will also provide brands with a direct pipeline of creators who align with WeAre8’s sustainable and ethical ethos.

WeAre8 Australia CEO, Lizzie Young, said: “The last few years have seen many
people and many businesses completely rethink everything and that’s what Collaborate is all about. We want to give clients the ability to be more conscious, have a lighter footprint on the planet, be more integrated into the community and to be more aware of our ability to collectively come together and make a positive impact on the world. To do this, you need to bring the right people to the table and that’s what Collaborate is all about.”

The Collaborate offering is replicated within WeAre8’s United Kingdom commercial arm, which will see the UK team partner with other future-facing, complimentary platforms and products that are producing fresh content and changing the game; including The GoodNet, and the podcast marketplace Acast. United in our mission to power a better future for brands, people and the planet.

Collaborate launched in the UK with French automobile brand, Citroën, as a foundation partner. Citroën will partner with WeAre8 to launch a multi-platform content series spotlighting the stories of how Citroën have been helping partners like The Big Issue and social enterprises like SignLive, Bands of Builders and Citizen Zoo to achieve.

The event also showcased WeAre8’s key activities since launching in Australia last year. Guests heard from WeAre8’s Australian founder, Sue Fennessy, on her vision for the future.

In its first community outreach program, WeAre8 unveiled rooms it helped transform to support the local community at the PCYC in Woolloomooloo.

Young said: “Since we launched the platform locally last year, we’ve seen incredible creativity from our first Australian Verified Creators. We’re excited to give back to the creative community. WeAre8 is the only social app committed to giving 5% of its
profits to the Creator Fund to help our citizens share stories with heart that help bring
communities together.

A huge point of difference with WeAre8’s Creator Fund is that we are awarding funds based on the quality of the artistic idea and its positive impact on the world, rather than people’s follower numbers or the number of views their account has.
