Wicked Campers has third van banned in one month, this time for ‘explicit sexual content’

Infamous van rental company Wicked Campers has had its third van banned for the month, this time for “explicit sexual content”.

The van, registered in Western Australia, says “I’m here for the bukakke”.

Wicked Campers was the first advertiser to reach 100 watchdog rulings

Ad Standards cited Urban Dictionary as its source for determining ‘bukakke’ refers to a sexual act and deemed the language inappropriate.

The original complaint said” “The ad contains offensive explicit sexual content and is in the public domain. Its content is not appropriate for the outdoor advertising environment. The ad is not targeted for a restricted audience but is in the public domain where children and minors can view this explicit sexual content.”

Breaking the codes of conduct for inappropriate language, Ad Standards also upheld the complaint for not treating the issue of sex, sexuality and nudity with sensitivity.

“Whilst the word bukakke is not strong or obscene language it is sexually explicit language which is not appropriate in the circumstances due to the broad audience which would include children,” Ad Standards said upholding the complaint.

Wicked Campers has already had two other vans banned for the month of September for referencing a “massive cock” and being “exploitative”, “degrading” and violent.
