Autumn:01 team up with MTV to produce travel website MTV Travel Co

mtv-mastheadSydney-based digital agency Autumn:01 has teamed up with MTV to produce MTV Travel Co, a website which showcases “the best and coolest new hotspots in major cities around the globe”.

Autumn:01 executive producer Mike Biggs told Mumbrella: “For the user it’s a shortcut of where to go and what to do as a pre-planning tool but more so, you’ve just landed in a city, check it out and where to go from here.”

The site, which covers London, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin and Sydney, pulls together recommendations from a selection of writers, musicians, bands and celebrity personalities in an effort to reveal the best places to eat, drink, sleep, shop and “do as the locals do”.

“The vision is for them to be able do some publishing but that will be post-current release. As it currently stands, MTV has an internal advocate in most of the cities and they are gathering [the insights] and putting them on the site manually,” Biggs explained.

The Sydney section includes posts on a wide range of topics including living and working in Sydney, a Splendour punter’s guide to Byron Bay, The Hours’ guide to Sydney, Will.i.am’s top 5 Sydney Spots and a number of “hot spot” recommendations.

“We did some research that indicated that getting inventories weren’t of interest to the target market, they just want to get a quick, short, succinct what’s the best, Will.i.am thinks it’s cool, I’m going to go check it out,” Biggs said.

Biggs told Mumbrella tourism body Destination NSW are a sponsor of the site.

“They’ve actually sponsored a few of those Sydney locations, so the site supports that relationship as well,” he said.
