RBT wins 764,000 for Nine but viewers tune out for Hostages
Nine won over 760,000 viewers for RBT, following the police Random Breath Test units on the road, but audiences dropped off for the new episode of US drama Hostages that followed, OzTam’s preliminary overnight ratings show.
Hostages, starring Australian actress Toni Collette, was third in the 8.30pm timeslot and 16th for the night with 488,000 metro viewers. Winning at 8.30pm was the ABC’s repeat episode of QI with Stephen Fry, which averaged 693,000 metro viewers, followed by Rango on Channel Ten, as 587,000 tuned in for the animated western feature film starring Johnny Depp as a lizard.
Meanwhile Seven’s James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies with Pierce Brosnan was fourth in the 8.30pm timeslot with a metro audience of 473,000 and was 17th for the night in total people.
The RBT repeat won the 7.30pm timeslot for Nine and was third in people 25-54 while Seven’s Mighty Planes, about the Blue Angels military display, was fourth in its timeslot with an average 460,000 metro viewers ranking 18th in all programs. Ten’s Rango was fourth in the 7.30pm timeslot behind 7.30 on ABC1.
Nine won the night with a 19.4 per cent share of the audience as Seven had 18.4 per cent, and Ten’s audience was just slighter than ABC1’s with a 13.3 per cent share.
Seven had the biggest audience at breakfast with 356,000 metro viewers as Today had 307,000, and Seven’s The Morning Show averaged 157,000 while Mornings on Nine missed out on the top 100 list of programs with ratings below 115,000. Ten’s morning lineup of Wake Up and Studio Ten also missed the top 100 shows.
