Mumbrella named website of the year; Marie Claire is magazine of the year
Mumbrella was named Australia’s website of the year at the Publishers Australia Excellence Awards on Friday night, while Pacific Magazines’ Marie Claire was named consumer magazine of the year above 50,000 circulation and News Magazines’ Vogue Living was consumer title of the year below 50,000 circulation.
Custom magazine of the year was Qantas The Australian Way, published by ACP Magazines. The B2B magazine of the year was Food Service, published by Yaffa Publishing.
Marie Claire also took the top prize of the night, the Publishers Australia Excellence Award.
The ceremony marked the first time that magazines owned by publishing giants including ACP, PacMags and News Magazines were eligible for the awards after consumer trade body Magazine Publishers of Australia joined the board of Publishers Australia last year.
Nick Smith, editor of News Magazines’ GQ was named editor of the year. Mumbrella editor Tim Burrowes and Victoria Carey, editor of News Magazines’ Country Style were joint runners up.
Football title FourFourTwo, published by Haymarket, was integrated media brand of the year. Mumbrella and finance title The Adviser were joint runners up.
The innovation in print award went to ACP’s Shop Til You Drop. Mumbrella’s Creative Agency Review was runner up.
The launch of the year above 50,000 circulation went to Smarter Business Ideas, published on behalf of Telstra.
