Save Your Legs! to shoot in India this year
The comedy Save Your Legs!, directed by Boyd Hicklin and co-written with Brendan Cowell, will shoot in India and Australia at the end of the year.
“I’m working with the wonderful Boyd Hicklin, Nick Batzias and Brendan Cowell on Save Your Legs! We’re shooting at the end of the year,” producer Robyn Kershaw told Encore.
Save Your Legs! follows an unlikely amateur Australian cricket team as they embark on a passionate yet disastrous ‘six matches in six cities’ tour of India. A documentary about this story was made in 2005.
“Pretty much [everything is in place]. We’re shooting in India and Australia, and we’ll be testing the project with both Indian audiences and Australian audiences on that. There is as much content there that is Indian as there is Australian,” added Kershaw.
The producer said she’s in discussions with a number of potential Indian partners.
“I think there will be a Memorandum of Understanding signed this year, and there is a treaty been signed next year. There are other films that I have planned for India, so that would be good for those projects, if not for this one,” she said.
But according to Geoff Brown, executive director of the Screen Producers Association of Australia, there is “no official word as yet” that the MoU or official co-production treaty will be signed between Australia and India.
