First Kochie, now Andrew Winter: is Compare the Market changing gears?

Selling Houses Australia host Andrew Winter will be joining David Koch as part of Compare the Market’s team of in-house experts, tasked with helping Aussies to “take control of their mortgages and attain the great Australian dream of homeownership.”

Until last month, Compare the Market was best known for advertising campaigns featuring talking meerkats. But Winter is the second high-profile hire for Compare the Market in less than four weeks, after former Sunrise host David Koch signed on as economic director.

It appears to be part of a shift towards editorial content, with Dr Ginni Mansberg also part of their in-house team, focusing on health. Travel guru Catriona Rowntree signed with Compare the Market last year.

In his new role, Winter will lead commentary on property news and trends.

Winter said that, given the current state of the market, he is keen to speak on issues impact mortgage affordability.

“Owning a property can be one of the most rewarding life experiences but – as we’ve seen over the past few years – it’s not always an easy ride,” Winter said.

“We want to arm Australians with the tools they need to make the most of their property journey, pay off their debt faster, and keep building savings along the way.

“I know the team at Compare the Market is incredibly passionate about helping people save. Whether you’re a first home buyer, a long-time investor or a keen renovator, it’s crucial to seek out a competitive rate.”

Compare the Market CEO Rob Clancy said of Winter’s mission: “We’re at the start of a very important chapter for the business, which will grow the impact we can make for our customers.

“There has never been a more important time to help Australians understand their options by comparing, switching and saving, wherever savings are available.”
