Great Southern Bank and Seven sign Big Bash cricket sponsorship deal

Great Southern Bank has secured a new broadcast cricket sponsorship agreement with the Seven Network and is launching a $50,000 Cash Bash competition for Big Bash fans nationally.

The bank told Mumbrella the agreement aims to provide access to its core audience of 25-44 year-olds over summer across linear television, 7Plus, in-game and integration opportunities.

Earlier this year, Great Southern Bank rebranded from CUA in March 2021.

The bank’s Heat sponsorship will also be prominent across ground signage at the Gabba and Metricon Stadiums, digital communications, marketing collateral, and Brisbane Heat team apparel.

Other assets include, squeeze back, billboards, Seven digital media and commentary integrations.

Each week Seven will produce a ‘Clever’ play of the week wrap-up in broadcast to support Great Southern Bank’s $50,0000 giveaway, where one person will win $50,000 towards a new home.

The bank is also celebrating the start of the summer of cricket with a series of brand promotions, including the launch of a ‘House Party’ deck at the Gabba to watch all the Big Bash action from 19 December.

Developed with Queensland Cricket, this latest deck will provide Brisbane Heat fans with all the comforts of home, combined with the atmosphere of a house party, said Great Southern Bank’s chief customer officer, Megan Keleher.

“Over the last five years, the deck has delivered unique game day experiences, most famously via the Pool Deck in which Brisbane Heat fans enjoyed the matches while relaxing in a purpose-built pool,” said Keleher.

“We’re increasing our commitment to cricket to grow brand awareness in key markets supporting our purpose-led transformation to Great Southern Bank. For 75 years we have been helping Australians own their own homes, but our new name is less than six months old,” she added.

“Our House Party deck is a great way to build our profile. Like many Australians, we took the opportunity to do some renovations during COVID with the aim to create the best place in Australia for a party with friends.

“Both the deck and the Cash Bash competition reflect our purpose as Australia’s largest customer-owned bank – we’re here to help all Australians to own their own home. The competition will see one lucky winner walk away with $50,000, which is a big head start on saving a deposit for a home,” Keleher concluded.
