Jeanswest launches iPad app

Jeanswest has launched an app for the iPad to boost footfall into its stores. The app, called iDenim Match, was created by Omnicom retail agency DDB Shop.

The announcement:

At a time when digital is increasingly competing with the physical shopping experience, retailers are having to take innovative approaches to engage with consumers and secure foot-traffic from both existing and new shoppers.

One of the first Australian companies to successfully embrace the emergence of digital and use it to the advantage of attracting in-store traffic is Jeanswest which, with the recent introduction of their iPad App, ‘iDenim Match’, proves that the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

Home to the largest range of denim in Australia, Jeanswest commissioned DDB Shop to create a tool for aiding the in-store customer in their search for the perfect pair of jeans.

Managing Director of DDB Shop, Andrew Williams, says the iPad App is Jeanswest’s solution to complementing the experience of a retail assistant for every customer and offers unique elements only digital can.

“The iDenim Match iPad App not only guides the purchaser to their ideal jean through occasion, style, specialty fits and wash choices, but it shows shoppers what they’ll look like in an interactive way,” Williams says.

“With over 54,000 images stitched together to make swipeable and sizeable high res movies, iDenim Match brings the jeans to life from every conceivable angle and zoom levels” and in doing this “helps navigate customers through what can otherwise be a daunting task,” Williams adds.

Already proving it’s success in both the digital and physical retail environment, the iDenim Match recently won the FWA Mobile Of The Day (MOTD) Award – awarded by one of the digital industry’s most recognised programs which showcases projects that use cutting edge technology together with inspirational ideas.

Not only technically impressive, it looks good too, taking a ‘Best Digital Design’ prize in the annual MADC (Melbourne Advertising and Design Club) Awards.

General Manager of Marketing for Jeanswest, Belinda Waller, says winning these awards is fantastic recognition within the industry however, we knew it was a hit already with our customers through their engagement with the new technology in-store.  We’re continuing to innovate and this is certainly a move on since the worldwide buzz surrounding the Jeanswest Butt Cam some 2 years ago.

“The information at Customer’s fingertips today is incredible and their ability to compare prices and products, locally and internationally continues to grow. What the web doesn’t offer is the unique mix of a denim range together with the one on one assistance of a Jeanswest Denim Specialist”, Waller says.

“The success of the ‘iDenim Match’ iPad station into our newly reopened Melbourne Central store, and recent award recognition proves that these two channels can work in unison to create a truly engaging and consumer-friendly retail offering,” she adds.
