Education Reporter

The Age is looking for an Education Reporter to join us in Melbourne for a max term contract of 12 months to cover a maternity leave period

We need an experienced journalist to report on education policy, state, private and catholic schools, and key issues spanning all years from primary to tertiary education.

The position requires skills in news reporting, data analysis, feature writing and commentary and an ability to come up with unique content across all platforms.

The education editor is at times required to represent The Age on radio and video, addressing conferences and school groups and appearing on panels. Applicants must be proven news breakers, with a minimum of five years’ experience and also able to work collaboratively with other reporters locally and interstate.

Reporters will be rostered across seven days and required to work public holidays and on weekend days as required. We support flexible working arrangements, subject to the needs of individual jobs.
