Environment editor

Guardian Australia (www.theguardian.com/au) launched in May 2013 as part of Guardian News & Media (GNM), one of the largest English language newspaper websites in the world (www.theguardian.com).

We are recruiting for an exceptional environment editor to join our newsroom in Sydney or Melbourne. Other locations in Australia will also be considered.

In this role you will lead Guardian Australia’s environmental news coverage and analysis, prioritising news stories and investigations in collaboration with the environment reporter and global environment reporting team.

To be considered for this position you will have a proven ability to generate exclusives and must-read coverage at a national level in a complex specialist area, be able to distil complex scientific research and developments into concise explanatory copy and have experience and strong contacts in the environmental or policy fields.

This role is being offered on a full-time, 12-month contract basis, working over a seven-day roster with early starts and/or late finishes.
