Media and Communications Team Leader

About the role
You will be responsible for managing the creation and delivery of media and communications strategies designed to maximise brand profile across all channels – print, television, radio, online, social – and increase public engagement with our work. You will also work with senior managers to coordinate cross organisational branding alignment and consistency. In addition you will lead an emerging team consisting of two Communications Officers (Media and Publications).

What you’ll need to succeed
 Five years’ experience in development and implementation of communications, media and public relations strategies
 Excellent communication, writing and editorial skills (media releases, media briefing notes, speeches, and general copywriting in a compelling and accurate style)
 An astute knowledge of current affairs, the media landscape and an extensive contact book of journalists.
 Knowledge of social media and content trends
 Ability to lead a team and manage budgets.
 Excellent project management skills to deliver outcomes within deadlines and budgets.
 Ability to work independently and as part of a team and effectively under pressure.
 Willingness to travel to remote locations within Australia
 Qualification in public relations, marketing and communications or journalism.
