Panalux inventory to stay in Australia

Fox Studios Australia has announced it will purchase lighting supplier Panalux’s entire equipment inventory, which head company Panavision put for sale in November 2010.

“Purchasing and thus keeping the lighting equipment that has serviced our industry so well over the last 12 years on Australian shores was the primary driver behind our decision. By adding the lighting equipment operation to our studio, it will be easier and more convenient for local and international productions to source lighting equipment whilst shooting on the Fox lot in Sydney, or in any other location in Australia and New Zealand,” said CEO Nancy Romano.

“We see this as an investment in the future of the Australian film industry and know that keeping this equipment in Australia will help contribute to achieving a sustainable industry in the future,” she added.

According to Fox Studios, the purchase will allow them to become “the only complete one-stop shop film studio” in the country, instead of a “dry hire” facility.

Panavision managing director Martin Cayzer said that keeping Panalux’s infrastructure in the country is critical for the future of the local industry.Panavision will continue to focus on camera and crane rentals.
