Tim Murphy named as QMS chief sales officer

QMS has named Tim Murphy as its new chief sales officer, two months after it was first announced he would be departing out of home rival, oOh! Media.

The appointment is part of a new sales management structure that will take effect at QMS from February 2024.

Murphy had previously been at oOh! Media for 16 years, most recently as chief sales officer since 2020. His jump across to QMS was first announced in September, when the out of home company revealed he would be joining the company’s executive team in an unspecified role.

In the new role, Murphy will be responsible for leading the sales function across the entire QMS network, including the City of Sydney, to further streamline QMS’ focus on solution-based selling. He will work alongside chief revenue officer, Alex Kerley, who will continue to lead QMS national and state-based sales teams (agency, independent and direct) to drive revenue growth across the QMS product portfolio.

Executive general manager, Mark Fairhurst, will also continue to oversee and manage the City of Sydney portfolio from a strategic business development, commercial and operational perspective, He will also be responsible for QMS’ trading function ,including partnerships, pricing strategy and analytics.

Rounding out the new sales management structure, Sara Lappage will expand her current customer-based operations role to assume the role of chief operating officer. Her new remit will include responsibility for the business’ corporate operating functions as well as its marketing, research, strategy and insights teams.

Commenting on the new structure, QMS chief executive officer, John O’Neill, said the changes would support the company’s growth, fueled by its ongoing investment in digital innovation, strategic asset development and data-led creativity.
