The Bachelor draws biggest ever audience to see who Sam Wood picked in finale
Last night’s episode of Ten’s The Bachelor saw 1.482m metropolitan viewers tuning in to watch bachelor Sam Wood declare his love for 34-year-old single mother Snezana Markoski.
The winner announcement is a solid win for Ten, which next week launches The Bachelorette with last’s year’s contestant Sam Frost, and was up on the 2014 finale which saw 1.374m watch Blake Garvey propose to Frost only for the pair to later break up.
The season finale was the most watched program of the night with an average of 1.228m tuning in for the whole program and helping Ten to a 19.4 share on its main channel, comfortably ahead of Nine and Seven
Ten’s reality show dominated Thursday night viewing and was the only program outside of news to draw over one million viewers with Seven’s singing show The X Factor drew 902,000 at 7.30pm and Kings Cross ER on Nine drew 541,000.
In the 8.30pm slot the Bachelor, which went to 9pm, still dominated while The Footy Show on Nine had 680,000 and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares on Seven at 8.50pm had 444,000.
In the news stakes Nine had 1.044m while Seven had 974,000 in the 6pm bulletin falling to 957,000 and 922,000 in the 6.30pm slot.
While in the breakfast race, day 4 of Sunrise 5 city challenge had 374,000 viewers for its New York broadcast well ahead of rival Today on 300,000.
