Creative marketing teams challenged to crack a charity brief and win an XBox
Resourceful teams of creative marketers are being challenged to crack a creative brief for a charity as part of a new competition, with the chance to win an XBox.
Mumbrella has partnered with Microsoft and media and marketing industry charity foundation UnLtd to create the Sydney Story Factory Teams Challenge.
The competition will pit company-based teams of at least three against their rivals, to come up with an immersive digital storytelling experience for the charity to help drive awareness.
Rachel Bondi, CMO, Microsoft Australia said: “Sydney Story Factory is a not for profit creative writing centre for marginalised young people aged 7 to 17. It works with at risk youth to cultivate their creative side and we could not be more proud to be partnering with them for this challenge.
“At Microsoft we strive to empower every person on the planet to achieve more and it’s amazing to see this come to life thanks to Sydney Story Factory and UnLtd.”
The Sydney Story Factory is a not-for-profit creative writing centre which focuses on helping marginalised young people who are most at risk of losing confidence in their writing abilities and switching off at school.
It runs creative writing workshops and runs one-on-one mentoring sessions that light the spark of creativity, build skills, boost confidence and open up the future for thousands of children and teenagers every year.
After five successful years of operation from Redfern, they plan to open a new creative writing centre in Parramatta in May 2018.
Cath Keenan, co-founder and executive director of the Sydney Story Factory said: “I’ve seen time after time how telling their stories helps kids grow in confidence, helps them stand that little bit taller. It’s very simple really: giving young people creative opportunities amplifies who they are, and who they might become.
“We’re very excited to be partnering with Mumbrella and Microsoft as the charity for this competition – what an amazing opportunity to spread the word about what we do at the Sydney Story Factory so that we can light the spark of creativity for thousands more marginalised young people and open up their futures. Thanks so much for participating. We can’t wait to see the results!”
UnLtd CEO Paul Fisher added: “This is an exciting new challenge created by Mumbrella Bespoke and Microsoft to apply technology in a creative way for social purpose. Sydney Story Factory is an amazing charity and I look forward to reviewing the entries with my fellow judges.”
The competition is open to anyone in the media and marketing community, although places for teams are limited, with teams comprising people from different cities and states given priority.
To enter email Head of Mumbrella Bespoke Alex Hayes – alex@mumbrella.com.au – stating your company, the names of the team members, their job roles, and where they are based by 11am AEST on Monday, April 3.
