Mumbrellacast: SeaChange resurrected, Cosmo killed, Foxtel marketing reborn… and a Jesus ad
Nine’s upfronts saw history repeating itself this week, with the resurrection of late ’90s family drama SeaChange and the renewal of several of 2018’s most successful formats.
But repetition isn’t necessarily a bad thing, something Nine execs Lizzie Young and Michael Stephenson explain in this week’s Mumbrellacast interview (19:31).
Also this week, Cosmo Australia was given the chop, much to the chagrin of ex-editors and readers alike. But what really caused the brand’s downfall? Plus, we delve into why Foxtel’s chief marketing officer Andy Lark was ousted after less than a year in the role.
We also saw a philosophical question – what would Jesus do? – attract debate in our comment thread. The question was posed in an ad which featured two guards telling Jesus to donate his organs. After moderating close to 200 outraged comments, the only question that remains is: what will Ad Standards do?
