Clemenger BBDO sees first slew of new senior hires under Dani Bassil

Clemenger BBDO’s national CEO Dani Bassil has made her first slew of hires seven months into the job, which includes a first-ever chief growth officer for the agency.

Anita Zanesco, who will fill the newly-created role, joined from Trinity P3 pitch consultancy and will take charge of Clemenger BBDO’s growth strategy. This includes the growth of new clients and capabilities and the development of existing ones.

Prior to Trinity P3, Zanesco led new businesses at Havas in Australia.

She said of her own appointment: “Under Dani’s leadership and with the strategic and creative firepower behind the agency fuelling new work across some of the world’s most loved brands, there is a real passion and hunger to create more fame and fortune for more businesses.

“I can’t wait to work with the team to do exactly that.”

Meanwhile, Georgie Winton and Anita Deutsch-Burley will join as managing partners, respectively based in Clemenger BBDO’s Sydney and Melbourne offices.

Winton is tasked with leading a portfolio of businesses for the agency, having worked at Frost*collective and whiteGREY most recently. Meanwhile, Deutsch will lead the retail and fashion specialism for Clemenger BBDO, having worked at Mutinex, a marketing analytics SaaS platform.

Bassil said of the new appointments: “These three women are phenomenal forces, talented, smart, energetic and fun. It’s hard to keep up with all the work we’re producing right now, and the growth is coming at us hard.

“I cannot wait to see the huge impact they will have on our clients, our agency culture and work. It’s an exciting time to be at Clems, there’s a spirit here that’s quite contagious.”

Winton said: “To be joining Clemenger BBDO with Dani at the helm, and such a powerful and positive team on board, is a ‘pinch me’ moment, humbling yet exhilarating. I cannot wait to get going, playing a part in the future success of both our clients’ businesses and ours.”

Speaking on the Mumbrellacast earlier this year, Bassil said the agency’s “resurgence” is well and truly underway.

“We’ve got some really, really good capability here, but it’s just not integrated in the right way, and we’re not using it in the right way, and my job is to help the agency realise that,” she said.
