Twitter to rebrand to X after Musk’s tweet bender
Elon Musk has confirmed Twitter’s iconic blue bird will soon be replaced by an interim X logo, in another major shake-up to the platform’s identity since his takeover.
Musk, owner of Twitter and chief executive of Tesla, tweeted for hours on Sunday about an imminent brand change for Twitter to become a platform called “X”.
He said that “soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds”, in the first tweet of a series that elaborated on the logo change. “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow,” he said in a quick follow-up.
At the time of publishing, no official logo has been released. However, Musk has pinned a gif created by Twitter user Sawyer Merritt, who offered his old podcast logo which is an “X”.

The website X.com also redirects to Twitter now.
Musk has repeatedly teased the idea of creating an “everything app” under the name X since he bought Twitter. The purchase was “an accelerant”, he said in a tweet last October.
The news came at a time when Twitter’s traffic has decreased significantly, largely thanks to the launch of Threads by Meta, the so-called “Twitter killer”.
