Tears before drivetime at Nova
Nova’s decision to loosen its no-more-than two-ads-in-a-row policy has already generated some lively debate on Mumbrella.
It would seem that the on air staff, both current and former, aren’t in love with the move either.
Posting a link to Mumbrella’s story, Sunday presenter Virginia Lette had this to say about the move on Twitter:
“this news breaks my nova heart”
And former presenter Bianca Dye (now on Illawarra’s i98FM) replied:
“cannot BELIEVE nova is doing more than 2 ads in a row either!?wow it was our “religion” that we only played 2 ads for sooo long!”
As an ex staffer, I too think this will mean Nova loses its POD in the market and will now no longer sound different. What a shame!! That said, the price murdoch paid for his share does not stack up to the same proportion as the cost of the licenses, so a revamp was needed!!!

The break from relentless ads is what kept me on Hughesy and Kate for so long. But they’re old and tired and whingey and if you add more ads into that mix, I’m off to podcasts.
