Stan signs deal with Viacom to round out content library with kids’ shows
Nine Entertainment Co and Fairfax Media’s joint venture Stan has announced a content licensing agreement with Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) that will see a number of children’s shows added to Stan’s content library.
The news follows Stan signing content deals with CBS Studios and BBC Worldwide earlier this month, a deal with MGM which saw the platform secure the streaming rights to Fargo and a deal with SBS which sees its World Movies content available on the platform.
Stan will host a selection of shows from Nickelodoen, Nick Jr., MTV and Comedy Central including animated shows SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Live action shows such as iCarly, VICTORiOUS and Drake & Josh and pre-school titles like Dora the Explore, Ni Hao, Kai-Lan and Bubble Guppies will further round out the catalogue.
For older viewers, South Park and Tosh.O, Awkward and Reno 911! will be found in the library, along with reality shows Teen Mom, Geordie Shore, The Hills and 16 & Pregnant.
Vicaom International Media Networks Australia & New Zealand senior vice president and general manager Ben Richardson said: “It’s no secret that audiences of all ages are evolving and demanding access to their favourite shows when and where they want.
“Stan provides kids, teens, animation lovers, reality TV fans and anyone who just loves great TV with an amazing choice of entertainment, and we’re thrilled to be a launch partner.”
The consumer name for the platform was announced last month, with the company also confirming it had secured the exclusive rights to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
The news follows on from rival Presto announcing it has signed deals with HBO and Showtime.
Stan certainly sounds like a more comprehensive offering than Presto at this stage, although Netflix hasn’t shown it’s cards yet.

interesting that viacom went with Stan— when their channels are sold through MCN/Foxtel.
