Ten viewers to wait extra six days for X-Files
Fans of cult sci-fi series the X-Files will have to wait an extra six days following its premier in the US before it is broadcast in Australia.
Network Ten has announced that the show will return to air in Australia at 8.30pm on January 31, as part of the broadcaster’s pre-ratings season push. The official return to the ratings season kicks off a week later, from Sunday February 7.
In the US, the show will premiere next Sunday January 24 (Monday January 25, Australian time).
The X-Files is part of a Ten Sunday lineup which also includes the second series launch of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here at 6.30pm, which will then be stripped on weekdays at 7.30pm.
And Ten will air the seventh season of Modern Family – which launched in the US four months ago – at 8pm on Sundays.
The X-Files originally ran from 1993 to 2002. There were also two X-Files moves and spin-off series the Lone Gunmen.
However, after the delayed first episode, the next day Australian fans will see the second episode virtually simultaneously with viewers in the US, with it airing in Australia on Monday February 1 at 8.30pm.
The X-Files mini series runs for just six episodes.

Meh going to torrent it

Seems odd. is this a Ten decision or has FOX imposed this?
TenPlay should have aired it simultaneously as the US.. that would be a coup. Ten has great programming, but its digital platform and viewer strategy need a shot in the arm.

Because the geek fans of a show like the x-files have no idea how to use bit torrent. #D’oh

I suspect those who have complained here about the delay wouldn’t have watched on Ten anyway and will illegally download. Otherwise, they would have mentioned the fact the Ten will be about a week behind the US, not in sync from the second EP (as the US will run two eps two nights in a row).

Does anyone know when next season of NCIS comes out in 2016 on Ten?

“However, after the delayed first episode, the next day Australian fans will see the second episode virtually simultaneously with viewers in the US, with it airing in Australia on Monday February 1 at 8.30pm”
The SECOND episode actually airs the day after the first episode in the US so either they will be a week behind or the “second” episode here was overlooked by the editor and should have been typed as T-H-I-R-D.
Either way it’s a bonehead move by TEN. I was actually going to watch it on TEN but now there’s really no incentive, it can be seen via other sources faster than TEN will deliver it here, the fact is there is NO practical reason TEN couldn’t air it same day, they’re just choosing not to It’s just that simple.

From the quality of the reviews of the first episode it’s not even worth the bandwidth to download.

Channel 10 will lose thousands of individual viewer ratings due to the seven day, two episode delay, in order to satisfy reality show fans. This is inviting the viewers to download.

6 days that will cost them twice whatever they’re paying for it.

I was going to wait and watch it on Ten, that was when I thought it would only be a day or so delay. Now I have a VPN and a streaming service I won’t be waiting a week longer than the rest of the world. Really stupid move channel 10, you’re going to lose out big time.
