British Council shifts to animation for Realise Your Dream campaign

The British Council has handed a brief to Boccalatte to run creative for its Realise Your Dream campaign. The appointment will see the organisation move away from photography towards animation to promote the program, which is designed to give Australian creatives a career kick-start in the UK.

In early development work not yet approved by the client, Boccalatte is drawing on British iconography such as the chip, Britain’s most famous contribution to world cuisine.

Boccalatte is working with animator Doug Bayne and illustrator Trudy Cooper, who have worked on ABC’s Chaser and Catalyst and 2JJJ TV.

Animation is marked departure from the classical photography used for last year’s Realise Your Dream campaign, created by Republic of Everyone.

Boccalatte, which lost out in a pitch to Republic of Everyone last year, was awarded the business without a pitch.

The agency has a brief to drive entry into the 2011 Realise Your Dream program and to drive traffic to the Council’s new arts portal website.

Identity design, website, print and online ads, radio scripts and an animated short film and TV spot for the British Council in Australia are to follow in the coming weeks.

Boccalatte creative director Suzanne Boccalatte said: “Supporting the arts and creative industries is our DNA, so this is an especially exciting campaign for us to be working on. We have a great deal of respect for what the British Council does and it’s inspiring to be working with a client whose mission and values are so closely aligned with your own”.
