As a huge fan of the OZ magazine (other than Philip Adams’ column who hasn’t realised John Howard left office four years ago) I’d have to say the new look’s a bit of a flop. I’m not sure ‘new’ means copying everybody else. Previous, the mag had a really eclectic mix of great stories, often with a male bent (unusual for newspaper inserts). The new look feels a bit banal, too much pretty photography of mountain ranges and way too much of the predictable ‘food and wine stuff’ EVERYBODY already does (which bores us non-foodies to tears.) If I wanted a white, humourless, sycophantic read aimed at Mosman housewives I’d stick with The Good Weekend!

Thanks for this! Helpful for an Australian freelancer such as myself

I would have agreed with DS but this week and last, the magazine has been great. Have to give it a chance.
If the last couple of weeks are an indication then it’s a success.

I actually quite like the new format but would like it even more if you didn’t have to buy the newspaper to get the magazine!
