Telstra ‘crunching the numbers’ on buying Nine
Telstra may attempt to buy Nine, The Australian reports today.
According to The Australian, Telstra has been “crunching the numbers” for the last month, but the interest is at a very early stage.
It is not the first time that The Australian has suggested a Telstra-Nine tie-up. Last August Nabila Ahmed suggested that an acquisition would suit Nine owner CVC Asia’s need to refinance debt and Telstra’s desire to get more video content once the NBN is in place.
So does this mean we can expect to lose TV reception for no reason, and to have to wait a week for it to come back on?

This is actually one of the few things Telstra has thought about doing that actually makes sense. The PE firm holding nine would probably accept a bargain basement price for it.
