A man tries to track his business’ progress with a fortune teller in Xero’s first TVCs in Australia

Small business accounting platform Xero has launched its first TVCs in Australia.

The campaign relies on stressed-out business owners – including a desperate man going to see a fortune teller – to demonstrate how using Xero makes processes like payroll, business performance tracking and invoicing simpler.

Each of the ads feature the same two actors, who take on different characters in each scenario. One consistently is experiencing a business problem while the other offers help with Xero.

The end of each ad circles back to Xero’s brand promise of ‘beautiful business’, which launched two years ago.

James Kyd, executive general manager of marketing, said: “Xero is more than just software for accountants. It solves real business problems for everyday businesses in a beautiful way. While we frequently like to show our real customers and celebrate the small business economy, we want to highlight the advantages of embracing technology and the significant benefits it delivers to small businesses.”

The creative and media for the campaign was executed by Xero’s in-house team. Eight Films completed the video production and Steve Boniface did the stills.

The campaign has launched across the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada,  with South Africa and Asia to come. The campaign will run across digital, TV, outdoor, podcast networks and radio.

Vladka Kazda, marketing director in Australia, said Xero has an exciting year in the works.

“It’s been a fascinating time for small businesses in Australia over the past couple of years, particularly with the introduction of Single Touch Payroll, making it mandatory for employers of all sizes to digitally report wages and superannuation to the ATO each time they pay their staff. Government-led initiatives like STP are driving a wave of adoption of online accounting software like never before.

“This year, we’re also seeing the introduction of e- invoicing, so now is a better time than ever for us to be in-market across a range of channels showcasing to small businesses how business admin is more beautiful on Xero.”
