Foxtel turns tweets into chants
Subscription television service Foxtel is running a social media campaign for a single day in which tweets are turned into sporting chants.
Users can submit their messages using the #sportingchants hashtag or on the brand’s Facebook page, and a group of sporting fans turn them into chants. Chants so far have included a plea for a husband and a classified ad for a second hand car.
The activation is part of Foxtel’s Olympic campaign. AnalogFolk is responsible for the creative thought and execution, which is extended into a search for the most popular sporting chant in Australia.
Foxtel is asking Australians to create a new national chant, film it and upload it to the website in a bid to replace the tranditional “Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi” cry.
The winner will be decided by vote and will receive a $10,000 cash prize.

What a novel idea…! Love it.

Interesting to see the level and type of engagement here.
Perhaps not surprising that people are using the social medium to spread their own messages and not those relating to the Olympians as was the design.
“tell my husband I’m buying those shoes”
“keep me on my Detox”
….and the winning number of views so far:
“Help me sell my silver hatchback $2500 ono” with 676 views
Very nicely executed by the team, but unfortunately another analogue idea that doesn’t understand how people choose to use use social media.
I suggest an aspiring copywriter grab the $10k prize asap.
