Patties Group respond to data breach claims

Patties Group, the owner of iconic pie brand Four‘N Twenty, has responded to claims it was the target of a ‘third-party data breach’.

The food manufacturing company told Mumbrella there “technically wasn’t a breach”, but that its third-party supplier Provenio.AI faced a “data exposure”.

A Patties Group spokesperson said Provenio.ai, a service provider that boosts supply chain efficiency, amended the data exposure after Cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler reported discovering a non-password-protected database containing company data.

Fowler claimed the records included 524,000 documents belonging to the food service provider, including 25,000 invoices.

The spokesperson said:We have been notified by ProvenioAI, one of our third-party suppliers, that there was a temporary exposure to some of their systems, which was quickly resolved.

“According to ProvenioAI, there has been no breach or no evidence that information has been maliciously accessed. We take cyber security extremely seriously and are working closely with ProvenioAI to ensure all data remains secure. We can confirm there has been no breach to Patties Food Group’s systems, and there is no cause for concern.”

Founded in 1966, Patties Foods also operates Leggo’s, Lean Cuisine, Nanna’s, Chefs Pride, and Herbert Adams.
