Michael Anderson to chair oOh! Media board
The former chief executive of Austereo Michael Anderson has been appointed chairman of the board at advertising company oOh! Media.
Anderson, who spent 13 years at Austereo working in sales and marketing, as chief operation officer and chief executive from 2003-2010 is also on the boards of Fairfax and Oztam.
He succeeds former chairman John Porter who will go on to become the CEO of Belgian based telco Telenet.
Anderson joins Champ representatives Darren Smorgon, Patrick Rodden and Barry Zuckerman on the board, as well as advertising veteran Geoffery Wild, oOh! CEO Media Brendon Cook, executive director Chris Bregenhoj and independent director Jennifer Tejada.
Cook said he looked forward to working with Anderson on driving new innovations and opportunities for advertisers.
“I am excited by the proven media skills and extensive knowledge that Michael will bring to the board. He has been there and done that when it comes to media and given that Austereo was the owner of EYE Retail for a period during his tenure, he is also well across the industry.”
Smorgon, who led the takeover of the then listed oOh! Media in 2012, said Anderson’s proven track record in building a strong media business made this a tremendous appointment.
“He succeeded in radio – which of all other mediums has the most similar challenges and opportunities to OOH – through implementing systems, strategies and processes based on experience he gained from working across all parts of the business,” Smorgon said.
“While it was disappointing that John has moved on, we feel Michael will be a great asset to the company.”
