Jungleboys start production on The Moodys
Sydney’s Jungleboys have started production on the second series of ABC comedy series A Moody Christmas for ABC TV.
The Moodys, an eight-part series written and created by Jungleboys’ Trent O’Donnell and Phil Lloyd, will follow The Moodys family get togethers at significant events over a single year.
Trent O’Donnell and Scott Pickett, also from the Jungleboys team, are directing the show, to be filmed at various locations in Sydney.
The original cast from A Moody Christmas, including Ian Meadows and Jane Harber, will star in the show along with new cast members Sacha Horler, of Channel Ten series Offspring, Ryan Corr of Packed to the Rafters, and Jonny Pasvolsky of Home and Away.
Chloe Rickard, Jungleboys series producer, said: “This series sees an expansion of the Moody’s world beyond the Christmas theme, providing many more relatable and typically Australian interactions which are rich fodder for comedy.”
Carole Sklan, ABC TV Head of Fiction, said: “We’re very excited that this series will see the Moodys escape the family home and embrace the wider world. Look out world!”
Production of A Moody Christmas continues in the United States and the Fox Network recently won a bid to have Trent O’Donnell and Phil Lloyd write a pilot for a US version of the series, based on the characters in the original series.
The ABC have commissioned the series and Screen NSW provided $200,000 to support the production.
