Double J – Express Yourself. Again, and again, and again.
Today is the day the ABC relaunches Double J as a digital radio station taking on the mantle of Dig Music. Obviously they’ve had to rename all their twitter properties, including the new @DoubleJplays account
And to celebrate, they’re telling people to express themselves. Again, and again, and again.
No prizes for guessing what the first song on the new station will be when it kicks off at midday.
Update: A blog posting explaining this phenomenon on the Double J site has been brought to Dr Mumbo’s attention by ‘Dr Dre’ in the comment thread. Apparently 12 versions of the song have been playing on a loop since Monday as a tribute to the action taken by DJs when a news producer was suspended for defying management in 1989 over Triple J playing the song Fuck Da Police by NWA. Unfortunately the link here is currently broken as the ABC migrates the sites.
No, they’re actually playing dozens of versions of Express Yourself right now.

If ever there was a reason for severe cuts to the ABC this is it. One Triple J is bad enough but having it duplicated at great expense to the taxpayer? All at a time when aged pensioners and the disabled are having their benefits cut.

@aussie Austridge.
Seriously? I acknowledge im now well out of the demographic… hehe im even past the Double J demo, nevertheless, the value of JJJ to aoz music and more importantly to young aussies is immeasurable.
Still, I guess it just doesnt fit with your, Boys Vs Girls, reality TV wanaabe’s and win a free cola, commercial radio shit…
Long live Triple JJJ even when im sitting here saying.. god i hate this stuff.
