Racing Victoria and Melbourne Racing Club pitches $3m media account
Two of the largest organisations in the horse racing industry Racing Victoria and the Melbourne Racing Club are preparing to pitch their media accounts together, Mumbrella can reveal.
It is understood agencies have been sounded out for the account for Victoria’s principal racing authority, along with three of the state’s biggest reacecourses: Caulfield Racecourse, Mornington Racing Club, and Sportingbet Park (Sandown).
The combined accounts are thought to be worth around $3m with a spokeswoman for Racing Victoria telling Mumbrella: “We assess our suppliers ahead of each joint marketing campaign we undertake with Melbourne Racing Club (MRC).
“The teams have had some initial discussions about suppliers for our next joint campaign but it hasn’t gone any further than that at this stage.”
While the two accounts have a relatively small spend it is thought that a number of agencies would line up to represent the prestigious Melbourne accounts.
Racing Victoria confirmed it did not have a media agency, at present, while it is unclear at this stage who the incumbent for the Melbourne Racing Club is.
The Melbourne Racing Club did not respond to requests for comment.
