Private Media editor-in-chief Sophie Black to depart
Sophie Black, the editor-in-chief of independent publisher Private Media is to depart.
Black, who is a former editor of Private Media publication Crikey, has spent more than a decade with the company and most recently oversaw its various titles which include Crikey, The Mandarin, Women’s Agenda, Startup Smart and Smart Company.
In a statement, Private Media CEO Jason Kibsgaard said: “As an integral part of our leadership team she has contributed to the ongoing strategies of each publication as well as serving as a public voice and advocate for Private Media within the industry and the wider media.
“Of course, Sophie has a special place in Crikey’s heart. She came on board in the very early years to eventually become an outstanding editor who built a fantastic team to lay a very strong legacy for the publication.”
Crikey reports that Black will look to publish a book and possibly seek to take on an academic fellowship.
