Election drives radio revenues to 17% increase
Radio’s advertising bounceback has continued with the election helping fuel a revenue increase of 17% for August, compared to the same month last year.
According to Commercial Radio Australia, metropolitan radio revenue for the month was $59.16 m, with growth in every market.
It included:
- Brisbane $9.7 m +25.41%;
- Perth $7.92 m +24.36%;
- Sydney $18.3 m +14.85%;
- Melbourne $17.74 +14.45%;
- Adelaide$5.49 m +12.42%
Joan Warner, CRA’s CEO said: “The Federal election has had an impact on revenue figures for radio and this has proved very positive in terms of advertising spend for August.”
As Mumbrella reported a fortnight ago, Aircheck monitoring suggested that radio was a major beneficiary of election advertising.
