Clemenger Sydney lands Ben Coulson as new head of creative
Just months after announcing his departure from Y&R as chief creative officer for Australia and New Zealand, Ben Coulson has landed at Clemenger Sydney as the agency’s creative lead.
In the latest round of creative musical chairs, Coulson fills the role vacated by Paul Nagy, who resigned from the agency two weeks ago.
Coulson led Y&R for four years after taking on the role in 2012, and has become one of the most awarded creative directors in the region.
Clemenger BBDO Sydney CEO, Andy Pontin, said Coulson was a welcome addition.
“Ben is an outstanding creative leader with a pedigree that speaks for itself,” Pontin said.
“More importantly, he cares about people and is brilliant nurturing creative talent and a creative culture.”
Coulson said he was looking forward to the new role.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining what I believe is the world’s best agency network, BBDO,” Coulson said.
“Clemenger and Colenso are the creative heavyweights in our region and I look forward to furthering that success.”
Coulson’s decision to leave Y&R in October was one of a series of major creative departures from Australian agencies, including Nagy, Darren Spillar, who left DDB in Melbourne, Bob Mackintosh, who left Host after 11 years, and Andy DiLallo, whose departure from M&C Saatchi after less than two years was announced last week.
